Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi chaired a meeting in Peshawar where the Apex Committee directed all departments to take decisive, coordinated actions to root out terrorism. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi attended the session to oversee these security measures.
Intelligence-based operations against militant groups will continue as a primary strategy for the province. The forum also decided to upgrade the Counter-Terrorism Department and police forces with modern manpower and logistics.
Beyond security, the committee agreed to focus on improving health, education, and general quality of life for residents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Under Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution, the president signed a summary on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
This constitutional arrangement allows Governor Kundi to exercise provincial government functions with the support of an 11-member advisory council. Parliament will now exercise the legislative powers typically held by the provincial assembly, which remains in existence and has not been dissolved.
The chief minister, provincial ministers, advisers, special assistants, and the advocate general have ceased to hold office.
