Apple announced the HomeView smart display on Tuesday, with a release date set for 13 November 2026. The device features a 7-inch square touchscreen and a 12-megapixel FaceTime camera.

Users can purchase the HomeView for 289.99 USD on Amazon. HomeView provides step-by-step instructions for recipes while supporting hands-free voice controls and Siri AI.

The display strips recipes of context including ads and affiliate links. To load a recipe, users must open it on an iPhone or via Safari on the HomeView.

The hardware supports Matter and Thread protocols and can recognize up to 6 household members. Siri uses the device to provide information from personal context in emails, messages, and calendars.

The display also supports casting apps to the screen using CarPlay technology. Amazon’s Echo Show displays offer hands-free cooking features with partner sites like Allrecipes or Epicurious.

Google removed the step-by-step recipe feature from Nest Hubs in 2024, though Google Search uses Gemini AI to amalgamate online recipes on the search page. The startup Recipeasly was forced offline in 2021.
