Nigerian police recover at least 28 human skulls and bones from suspected criminal camps

Police in Abia are investigating remains found in the Umuaku and Nneato forests on 28 September. At least 28 human skulls and bones were recovered from suspected criminal camps in Nigerian forests.
Maureen Chinaka stated that a total of twenty-eight human skulls and bones, suspected to be kidnap victims, were recovered. The raids began after intelligence reports indicated suspected criminal activity within the forests.
Suspects reportedly fled when police arrived at the scene. Separately, over the weekend, more than 80 people, predominantly women, were seized following mass kidnappings across two states in the country's north.
On Sunday, gunmen abducted nearly 50 farmers in Niger State. Furthermore, about 40 other women were kidnapped in Zamfara on Sunday.
