US jury orders Apple to pay Taction over $5.7 billion for patent infringement

A US jury ruled on Friday that Apple must pay Taction more than $5.7 billion because Apple’s Taptic Engine infringed two patents owned by Taction. The jury determined that the Taptic Engine infringed two patents held by Taction.
Apple countered the ruling, stating that its Taptic Engine operates on principles fundamentally different from Taction’s technology. Furthermore, Apple asserted that it does not utilise Taction’s technology.
Following the verdict, Apple announced its rejection of the ruling and its intention to appeal the decision. Lance Yang, an attorney for Taction, welcomed the jury's decision.
Taction initiated the lawsuit against Apple in 2021.
