LCCI President Ali Hussam Asghar met with a delegation of industrialists from Ferozepur Road to discuss economic hurdles and growth strategies. Asghar stated that Pakistan requires export-led growth to achieve sustainable economic development.
The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry will contact government departments to resolve specific problems faced by businesses on Ferozepur Road. An ad-hoc committee led by Adeeb Iqbal Sheikh will be created to tackle primary industrial issues.
To streamline investor processes, the chamber is working on a Punjab government application for establishing new factories and industrial units. A Complaint Cell has been established by the LCCI, which connects directly to the Prime Minister’s dashboard regarding economic ministries.
Sheikh highlighted concerns over payment procedures and WASA bills, noting that FIRs initiated by the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and other departments damage the business climate. Sheikh argued that authorities should prefer fines and corrective measures over criminal proceedings for rectifiable violations where legally permissible.
Asghar proposed offering small industrialists interest-free or easy-term loans to transition their boilers and machinery to environmentally friendly technologies.
