Costs for underpasses intended for the Mall Road signal-free project have increased, according to reports. Furthermore, one underpass project originally proposed for the area has been cancelled.

The expense for the Race Course and Chairing Cross underpasses specifically saw an increase. The cost for the Race Course underpass alone rose by Rs1,368.814 million.

Collectively, the total expenditure for the Race Course and Chairing Cross underpasses climbed from Rs3,091.090 million to Rs4,459.904 million. Separately, the Chairing Cross underpass cost increased by Rs901.619 million.

The overall project cost adjusted upwards, moving from Rs2,588.654 million to Rs3,490.273 million. The third underpass planned at Qabristan Chowk was dropped from the plans.

This cancellation of the Qabristan Chowk underpass reduced the overall project cost. The Army Qabristan Chowk project cost decreased from Rs2,679.328 million to Rs1,595.095 million.
