The Sindh Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) requested town-wise records detailing road-cutting fees collected from utility companies. During the PAC meeting, which was chaired by Nisar Khuhro, questions arose regarding the distribution of funds and the specific expenditure in each town.
SSGC paid an advance sum of Rs. 11.9 billion to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, along with town municipal corporations and cantonment boards. Jinnah Town recorded receiving Rs. 800 million from road-cutting charges.
Furthermore, Jinnah Town issued tender notices valued at Rs. 300 million for various development work and roads. The PAC subsequently directed the local government department to establish a proper mechanism for monitoring town development projects.
Regarding infrastructure improvements, Jinnah Town reported purchasing manhole covers worth Rs. 1.9 million. Officials confirmed that these manhole covers were installed across UC-5, UC-7, and UC-8.
Khuhro questioned the continued danger posed by open manholes to children despite the expenditure on repairs.
