Maeda wins quarter-final bout after Tang Jing disqualification

Maeda secured victory in the quarter-final bout in Nagoya after Tang Jing received disqualification for an alleged bite. The incident occurred when Tang appeared to bite Maeda just above the wrist while the pair were clinched on the ground.
Following a review of the footage, the judges disqualified Tang. Maki Tsukada noted that the bite marks remained visible even though Maeda wore protective tape on that section of her arm.
Tsukada stated, "Still, the teeth marks were clearly and firmly there". The victory marked a first for her in her extensive career in the sport, according to Tsukada.
Maeda subsequently won gold by defeating Kazakhstan's Azhar Askhat in the final match. A 21-year-old athlete stated, "I entered this tournament with a strong determination to win gold".
