UN pushes Gaza support amid Israeli restrictions on aid access

The United Nations is pressing forward with help and support for Palestinians in war-shattered Gaza, according to Acting UN Special Coordinator Ramiz Alakbarov. UN agencies and humanitarian partners are working to address urgent needs, including shelter, healthcare, water, and sanitation.
However, significant obstacles remain, notably Israel-imposed restrictions affecting humanitarian access and the entry of materials needed for reconstruction. UN agencies, including the UN relief agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA), continue their operations on the ground.
Addressing the situation in the occupied West Bank, Alakbarov noted that tensions are rising amid settler violence, economic pressures, and restrictions impacting Palestinian communities. He further underscored continued international backing for a two-State solution, where Israel and Palestine can coexist in peace and security.
