Pakistan receives second Qatari LNG cargo to bolster national gas supply

Pakistan received its second liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo from Qatar in October 2026. Sources from the Ministry of Energy confirmed that gas from this second shipment is currently being injected into the national system.
The vessel Al-Areesh berthed at Engro’s LNG terminal on 14 October 2026 to deliver the first cargo of the month. Regasification on that day restored approximately 150 million cubic feet per day of supply to the national gas network.
Ministry of Energy sources stated that LNG imported under the existing agreement with Qatar costs between $14 and $15 per MMBtu. QatarEnergy declared force majeure in March 2026 after the regional conflict caused damage to its Ras Laffan facility.
