Lahore Zoo relaunches animal adoption program for citizens and institutions

The Lahore Zoo has revived its animal adoption program, allowing both private citizens and institutions to adopt various wild animals and birds. A private school recently became one of the first participants by adopting a male hippo.
Adoption costs vary significantly depending on the species, with big cats requiring an annual fee of Rs1 million. Other large mammals and wildlife carry different price points, including Rs600,000 for a hippo and Rs300,000 for a giraffe.
Smaller animals are available for lower rates, such as Rs150,000 for various antelope and Rs100,000 for a deer. Public figures including Reema, Babra Sharif, and Meera have already participated in the program by adopting animals.
Educational institutions such as Punjab University and Government College University also continue to adopt animals under the scheme.
