Michael Apple demonstrated the GoSun EV Solar Charger at the Montgomery Farmers Market alongside representatives from the New Jersey Electric Vehicle Association. The GoSun system is designed to remain mounted on a vehicle's roof and functions with compatible roof crossbars.

Solar panels on the unit fold into a compact enclosure on the roof when not in use at full size. GoSun states the system can produce up to 1,100W of solar output when deployed, while Michael Apple recorded a highest output of around 1,054W.

The charger utilizes a 2,400Wh lithium iron phosphate battery to store energy from the panels before an inverter provides power for Level 1 EV charging. GoSun claims the system produces around 200W continuously while closed, and Michael Apple found that the unit continues generating power while folded inside the rooftop enclosure.

Apple stated the system supplied all of his charging needs and provided roughly 15 to 20 miles of additional driving range each day for about two weeks. GoSun lists the EV Solar Charger at a price of $3,999.
