IPC warns 7.5 million Pakistanis face acute food insecurity by 2026

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification estimated 7.5 million people will face acute food insecurity between 1 December 2025 and 31 March 2026. Approximately 1.25 million individuals are expected to experience emergency conditions during that same period.

Monsoon floods in 2025, extended droughts, dry spells, and localised insecurity are primary drivers of the crisis. The World Food Programme estimates that 40 percent of Pakistani children under five years old suffer from stunting.
