16 writers to co-author 200-page novel on Japanese luxury train
Sixteen writers boarded a luxury train in Kyoto to collectively compose a 200-page novel in under 24 hours. The Mizukaze train will arrive in Matsue on Friday morning as the group continues their work.
L’ecriture en mouvement organized the project, which features a plot set entirely aboard the Mizukaze. Muriel Barbery described the initiative as a "completely crazy project: coming together on an iconic train, where 16 voices must form a coherent and meaningful whole."
Barbery noted that each participant received the biography of a character whom all other figures knew, providing the reason for their shared journey. Christophe Ono-dit-Biot stated that the narrative "will inevitably find its way."
Writing in Motion previously conducted a comparable project in Canada during 2015.
