Pharmacy bodies meet in Islamabad to reform education and professional standards

The Pakistan Pharmacists Association (PPA) and the Pharmacy Council of Pakistan (PCP) held talks in Islamabad on 16 October to discuss strengthening pharmacy education and professional standards. PPA President Dr. Alamgir Rao and Punjab PPA General Secretary Dr. Umair Dar met with PCP President Dr. Muhammad Zaeem Zia and Secretary Dr. Nauman Rahim Khan.
Representatives from the PPA advocated for regulatory measures to increase the salaries of pharmacists working in academic institutions. The PPA leadership also called for comprehensive audits of all facilities providing Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm-D) degrees.
Pharmacists urged the PCP to take a proactive stance in resolving professional issues through its existing regulatory framework. Dr. Muhammad Zaeem Zia acknowledged the concerns raised by the PPA and promised the Council's cooperation and support.
Zia reaffirmed that the PCP remains committed to implementing significant reforms within its statutory mandate.
