Houthis cut vital supply route linking Taiz and Aden in Yemen
The Houthis cut a vital supply route connecting Taiz with Aden in Yemen. Three sources with the Yemeni military confirmed Houthi control over the area and the supply route.
Furthermore, the Houthis took control of the al-Safiya area, according to a police source in the area. The main road linking Taiz to Aden has seen traffic halted by the Houthis.
Sources also confirmed that the Houthis effectively encircled Taiz city. Despite the surrounding action, the city of Taiz itself remains under the control of government forces.
The conflict in Yemen reignited in July. Previously, the Houthis seized Yemen’s entire Red Sea coast, including the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
These actions include the Houthis launching a blockade on Saudi energy exports. The wider conflict in Yemen first erupted in 2014.
