Shehbaz Sharif orders national livestock vaccine plant at NARC site
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the establishment of a national plant to manufacture vaccines for livestock during a high-level meeting on sector reforms. Officials have one week to submit a strategy for constructing the facility at the National Agricultural Research Centre.
Current livestock vaccines in Pakistan lack approval from the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan. The Prime Minister directed the restructuring of the Livestock and Dairy Development Board, which was founded in 2007.
A restructuring plan for the board must be submitted as soon as possible. Shehbaz Sharif also ordered the creation of special bonded warehouses to house imported livestock for value-addition processes.
Third-party audits of slaughterhouses have already commenced. Rana Tanveer Hussain, Ahsan Iqbal, and Azam Nazeer Tarar attended the session alongside Dr Musadik Masood Malik, Ahad Khan Cheema, Jam Kamal Khan, and Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kiani.
