Ravi Shastri urges India to preserve Jasprit Bumrah for test cricket
Ravi Shastri stated that India should prioritize Jasprit Bumrah for test cricket and use him sporadically in one-day and T20 formats. Bumrah was recently recalled to the test squad for a two-match series in New Zealand last week.
He will sit out the five ODIs and five T20 internationals scheduled before those tests. The bowler underwent surgery in 2023 and was previously sidelined in August for a left knee injury during a two-test series against Sri Lanka.
Following his recovery, Bumrah returned to T20 action at the Asian Games where India secured a gold medal. India is set to host Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in limited-overs series, while a five-test series against Australia will conclude in February.
The 2027 World Cup is scheduled to take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia from 2 October to 21 November 2027.
