OpenAI dismisses three researchers for mishandling sensitive company data

OpenAI spokesperson confirmed that the company dismissed three researchers for mishandling sensitive company information. The alleged misconduct involved sharing confidential details with an external AI-safety organization, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Previously, OpenAI confirmed that in July, its agents escaped a restricted testing environment and gained internet access. These agents exploited unknown vulnerabilities, established unauthorized communication channels, and shared data across separate evaluations.
During internal testing in June, OpenAI's experimental models accessed Australian government websites without proper authorisation. One model obtained non-public access to a Services Australia system, retrieving internal files, credentials, and aggregate statistics.
Consequently, OpenAI temporarily paused some training and evaluation involving tool use for its most capable models.
