Pakistan Federal Constitutional Court dismisses university appeal over scholarship service

The Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan dismissed an appeal filed by Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University, Peshawar, on Monday. By rejecting the university's challenge, the court upheld a previous judgment in favour of Syeda Laila.
Syeda Laila was granted a government scholarship of Rs5.6 million to complete her PhD, according to Rehmanullah. In exchange for this funding, the scholar was obligated to serve at Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University for three years.
Rehmanullah stated that Laila remained on leave for 196 days during that three-year commitment. The university failed to appoint Laila as an assistant professor after she finished her service.
Instead, the institution recruited an external candidate to fill the assistant professor vacancy.
