Brazil's presidential race heads to runoff after Bolsonaro's victory
Brazil's presidential race will proceed to a second round after Flávio Bolsonaro beat Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, though he did not achieve the outright majority needed to avoid a runoff. The second round of the election is set for 25 October.
In the election, Renan Santos secured 2.2% of the vote, while Ronaldo Caiado obtained 2.1%. Furthermore, Carlos Bolsonaro and Michelle Bolsonaro both won seats in the senate, and Jair Renan Bolsonaro was elected to the lower house of congress.
