UK-EU relationship remains key focus as Burnham government navigates future ties

The Andy Burnham government is currently dealing with questions surrounding its future relationship with the European Union. Jukka Salovaara stated that the UK remains the EU’s primary and foremost partner.
Salovaara sees his own role as that of a facilitator. The EU will be ready to engage once the country in question decides its desired path.
Trade figures show that nearly 60% of the UK’s food exports are directed to the EU market. Furthermore, 70% of the UK’s food imports originate from the EU.
EU officials previously confirmed that the UK initially proposed 50,000 places annually for the youth experience scheme. Conversely, Brussels is now advocating for a figure of 150,000 places for the youth experience scheme.
A first EU summit for Burnham is scheduled for November.
