Punjab Police launches new system for Helpline 15 calls involving women and children

Punjab Police will introduce a new response system for Police Emergency Helpline 15 calls concerning women and children. The initiative will first operate as a pilot project within the Model Town Division. Upon receiving a relevant call on Helpline 15, female police officers and personnel will immediately arrive at the location. At the scene, the female police officers will take an application from the affected woman and issue a diary number instantly. Officials stated the system aims to make case registration simpler for women, ensuring a prompt response to domestic violence complaints, and providing legal guidance through female police officers at the scene. Furthermore, the system is designed to reduce the need for affected women and children to make repeated visits to police stations for case registration. This measure will help minimise unnecessary travel after a case has been officially registered.
