Amazon seeks to offload $8 billion in advanced Nvidia chips to investors
Amazon is looking to transfer approximately $8 billion worth of advanced Nvidia chips to investors. The cloud giant held discussions with investors to assess interest in this potential transaction.
This arrangement requires moving thousands of Grace Blackwell chips into a special-purpose vehicle. Following the transfer, Amazon will lease the advanced AI chips back from the special-purpose vehicle.
Furthermore, Amazon intends to provide an equity stake of up to 10% in the vehicle. These chips are currently installed across more than a dozen US data centres spanning five states, including Nevada and Virginia.
