Malik states government needs multilateral input to change petroleum levy targets

Ali Pervaiz Malik spoke during a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Petroleum regarding the petroleum levy. Malik asserted that the government cannot alter petroleum levy targets without consulting multilateral partners.
The levy amounts to Rs80-80, according to Ali Pervaiz Malik. Mustafa Mahmood indicated that diesel proved more vital than petrol for the transport of goods and for agricultural needs.
Saif-ul-Mulook Khokhar described the levy as a "very heavy burden" on the public. Naveed Qamar confirmed that the government adjusted petroleum product pricing, moving from a 30-day formula to a 15-day formula, and subsequently towards daily pricing.
Around 70% of the diesel supply was refined within Pakistan. Pakistan Refinery operated at 84% capacity, while National Refinery ran at 85% capacity.
Four refineries signed agreements to manufacture fuel compliant with Euro V standards. The fuel supply chain is undergoing complete digitalisation, stated Ali Pervaiz Malik.
