Southern California faces heatwave as temperatures climb significantly

A heatwave is anticipated across Southern California, prompting the National Weather Service to issue advisories starting Friday. Temperatures are forecast to reach near 100 degrees Fahrenheit in downtown Los Angeles.
Inland areas are expected to see temperatures spike into the triple digits. Richard Bann, an NWS meteorologist, stated that expected temperatures will run 15-20 degrees above normal.
V Kelly Turner noted that the heat experienced on Friday was rare. Furthermore, Professor V Turner stated that the heat was nearly 7 degrees hotter than the hottest October recorded.
Research indicates that heatwaves become more likely and last longer with every half-degree of global warming. Edith de Guzman, a researcher, urged governments to invest in heat adaptation.
