Abdul Samad donates corneas to two people after kidney failure at SIUT

Abdul Samad donated his corneas to two individuals, according to a spokesperson from SIUT. The donation followed Samad's battle with kidney failure, which stemmed from a genetically inherited family kidney ailment.
A spokesperson for SIUT confirmed that Abdul Samad had been receiving dialysis treatment at the facility since April 2025. The medical history of the family shows a pattern of kidney issues; Samad's maternal uncle received a kidney transplant at SIUT back in 1986.
Furthermore, Samad's elder brother has been a dialysis patient at SIUT since 2016. Pervin, Samad's mother, works at SIUT as a technologist within the Pathology Department.
The nephrologists who attended the two brothers stated that they supported each other during the treatment. SIUT also stressed the necessity for increased public knowledge concerning deceased organ donation.
