Cyber Agency Establishes Units to Combat Fake News and Propaganda

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency established special units to prevent anti-state propaganda and fake news. Furthermore, the agency made cyber patrolling units functional across all regions to monitor cyberspace.
Director General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi reviewed various measures during a five-day tour across Punjab circles. During his visit, Rizvi inspected reporting centres, police stations, and offices.
He also held direct meetings with over 500 complainants. The DG directed officials to make the complaints and verification system more people-friendly and to utilise all available resources to ensure prompt justice.
The Agency adopted a zero-tolerance policy against fake news and anti-state propaganda. Rizvi stressed the importance of transparent investigations, merit-based case handling, and timely justice for cybercrime victims.
Officials must maintain transparency and merit in all processes, according to the DG. Further instructions were issued by the DG to improve performance, complaint disposal, and record maintenance.
