Tories pledge cuts to house prices, scrap key environmental regulations

The Conservative party pledges measures aimed at reducing new home prices by £50,000. Furthermore, the Tories plan to abolish both the Environment Agency and Natural England.
The party also intends to scrap rules governing affordable homes and community funding. Andrew Griffith stated that the party intends to “streamline regulations”.
Tories committed to replacing the existing section 106 agreements and community infrastructure levy with a single, unified levy. The party also pledged to scrap net zero regulations applicable to housebuilding, including the Future Homes Standard.
The functions of Natural England and the Environment Agency will move to Defra, according to the pledges. Katie Lam, the new shadow housing secretary, asserted that scrapping regulations means anti-growth ideologues cannot hold country hostage.
Griffith will also state that the government must accelerate the construction of a third runway at Heathrow.
