David Berson takes over Skydance sports operations following Warner Bros. Discovery acquisition
David Berson will assume responsibility for the broader sports operations at Skydance, following the company's completion of its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. Luis Silberwasser will exit the company as part of these changes.
The combined sports assets are expected to grant Skydance greater influence with both major leagues and smaller sporting bodies. Previously, both CBS and Warner controlled modest sports portfolios.
David Berson previously supervised CBS Sports' arrangements with the streaming platform Paramount+. Furthermore, David Berson was involved in negotiations concerning the rights for the PGA Tour Golf.
Warner has shown an entrepreneurial approach recently, integrating sports with reality-based competitions. The company also invested in the Unrivaled women's sports league.
Warner worked to build a new collection of sports properties to compensate for the absence of the NBA.
