Coyote vs Acme grosses over $100 million globally, defying studio shelving

The film Coyote vs. Acme achieved a global box-office total exceeding $100 million, marking a significant financial success for the movie. Ticket sales for Coyote vs. Acme amounted to $59.8 million within the domestic market and an additional $45 million from international screenings.
The movie initially launched in late August, generating $15.9 million from ticket sales within the United States alone. Warner Bros. shelved Coyote vs. Acme as a measure to claim a tax write-off.
David Zaslav, the chief of Warner Bros. Discovery, relegated the final decision regarding burying the film to the accountants. Zaslav stated that the studio was redirecting its focus back toward theatrical releases and felt the film did not align with the company's new creative direction.
Previously, in 2022, David Zaslav shelved the $90 million DC-centric Batgirl and the kid-friendly Scoob! Holiday Haunt for tax purposes.
