Music executive Kenny MacPherson dies at 71 in Los Angeles

Kenny MacPherson died in Los Angeles on 24 October at the age of 71. MacPherson served as the chief executive officer of Hipgnosis Songs Group, which Sony Music acquired in 2025.
The music industry veteran co-founded Big Deal Music Group in 2012, a company that Hipgnosis Songs Group purchased in 2020. Earlier in his career, MacPherson joined Warner/Chappell publishing in 1989 and later became the president of Chrysalis’ North American operation in 2002.
BMG bought Chrysalis in 2010, while MacPherson also launched Oh Aye Music in 2021. A former employee of Chrysalis filed a lawsuit against MacPherson in 2023 alleging sexual misconduct.
