Steve Hilton attends Los Angeles industry roundtable amid political backlash

Steve Hilton attended a roundtable discussion with film and TV industry leaders in Los Angeles on 15 September 2026. However, Hilton faced criticism from his own political party regarding a recent campaign advertisement.
The advertisement, titled “Just Try It, California,” showed two young women on a bed positioned before a pride flag in low lighting. Sonja Shaw described the campaign ad as “creepy, weird, disturbing garbage.”
Michael Gates condemned the promotion, stating that he “emphatically [denounced] the use of young women as a political tool.” Hilton himself explained that the campaign advertisement was meant to be satirical and provocative.
Meanwhile, Xavier Becerra posted an article supporting Medicare for All, which included a direct message to Steve Hilton: “Steve, just try it!” Polls consistently indicated that Becerra held a notable lead over Steve Hilton.
