Honda plans wireless charging truck tests on Japanese highway

Honda plans to test wireless charging technology for moving trucks on a Japanese highway. This wireless charging system transfers electricity from charging units built into roads to vehicles in motion.
Honda Research and Development and Taisei Rotec are developing this technology. The system comprises three parts: a DC power supply, a power transmitter set in the pavement, and a receiver placed beneath the vehicle.
Honda may commence its initial trials towards the end of 2026. Furthermore, public demonstrations for this technology are scheduled for April 2027.
