Pakistan conducts 67 operations to thwart ISKP expansion from Afghanistan

Pakistan conducted 67 major operations to block the expansion of the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) operational footprint. The militant group maintains its primary base of operations within Afghanistan.
Provinces including Kunar, Nangarhar, and Helmand serve as the main hubs for ISKP activities. ISKP shifted experienced fighters to Afghanistan following the collapse of Daesh strongholds in Syria.
A MOAB was dropped by the United States on an ISKP cave and tunnel complex on 13 April 2017. Militants from the Taliban Regime are moving toward ISKP.
More than 50 terrorists were killed during these security actions. Over 100 individuals were arrested, including three others following the neutralization of one high-value target.
ISKP carried out six attacks in Pakistan, resulting in 42 martyrdoms and 85 injuries. Specific incidents included a suicide bombing at a Shia Mosque in Tarlai, Islamabad, and a targeted attack on a Sessions Judge in Mastung, Balochistan.
