Qualcomm wins legal victory against Arm in Delaware court ruling

A Delaware jury ruled in favour of Qualcomm against Arm, finding that the company breached obligations regarding software patches and tools for licensed designs. The jury also determined that Arm interfered with business negotiations between Qualcomm and Meta.
$2 in damages was awarded to Qualcomm, consisting of $1 for each of the two claims it won. Arm successfully defended itself against five other claims brought by the chipmaker.
Qualcomm stated it was pleased that the jury found Arm had breached its long-standing Architectural License Agreement and had intentionally interfered with Qualcomm’s business. The penalty for such breaches is specified within the licensing agreement between the two firms.
Arm argued that the $2 damages award supported its position. Both companies are scheduled to appear before US District Judge Maryellen Noreika for further proceedings.
