Lahore High Court extends stay on deportation of Afghan medical students
The Lahore High Court extended a stay order preventing the expulsion and deportation of Afghan medical students from Pakistan. Justice Khalid Ishaq heard petitions submitted by more than 30 Afghan students, including Syed Mubeenul Fatti.
The court granted the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council more time to provide a formal reply to the petitions. Authorities had previously issued deportation notifications on 31 July and 1 September.
The Lahore High Court had suspended the operation of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council directives on 11 September. The court adjourned the hearing to a date to be determined by the office.
