Punjab launches biometric verification for birth, death and marriage certificates

Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique inaugurated the Civil Registration Management System (CRMS) to digitise the registration and issuance of birth, death, and marriage certificates. Developed alongside the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and the Punjab Local Government Department, the platform operates under the ‘Digital Punjab, Transparent Punjab’ initiative.
The CRMS mandates biometric verification against the NADRA database before any official certificates are released to the public. Authorities plan to roll out the system in stages across every union council in Punjab.
At the Suthra Punjab Authority Office, Rafique chaired a meeting to evaluate sanitation activities in the divisions of Gujranwala, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Multan, and Faisalabad. Asim Mehmood, Benish Fatima, and Umer Javed joined the session via video link.
The minister requested that residents report the burning of crop residues or garbage immediately.
