Traffic police and the Environmental Protection Agency have decided to establish joint checkpoints to prevent smoke-emitting vehicles from entering highways. Syed Nadeem Abbas, SSP Headquarters, issued a letter to all CTOs and DPOs, directing strict action against vehicles that emit smoke.
Joint operations involving the traffic police, EPA, and the transport department have been ordered to enforce these measures. Authorities confirmed that no smoke-emitting vehicle will be permitted to travel on the roads.
Furthermore, action will be taken against open vehicles that carry sand, debris, and husk. Vehicles transporting construction material must now be covered with tarpaulin.
All vehicles, including motorcycles, must keep their headlights and taillights functional. Commercial and heavy vehicles, loaders, and tractor-trolleys are required to install reflective tapes and stickers.
The crackdown on dangerous driving, racing, and overspeeding will be intensified. Additionally, parking heavy vehicles on the carriageway and road shoulders in fog-prone areas must cease.
