Omani National Allegedly Tried to Hijack Israel-Bound Flight Over Israel

Hamam al-Hammami, an Omani national, allegedly attempted to hijack an aircraft bound for Israel on 30 September. The alleged attempt to seize control of the flight destined for Tel Aviv involved 182 people onboard.
Authorities report that Hammami allegedly used a crash axe during the attempted terrorist attack. Australian security agencies initiated an investigation after it became known that Hammami resided in Australia for approximately two years as a student until 2017.
The Executive Council of Australian Jewry called for a thorough review of Hammami’s connections within Australia, according to Alex Ryvchin. The flight's captain, Smit Machchhar, sustained a 'big blow' to the back of his head shortly after Hammami moved from his seat to pray.
Smit Machchhar later informed Benjamin Netanyahu that he realised the threat originated from the individual seated in the cockpit with him.
