Nobel Prize in Chemistry honours Kagan and Soai for life's molecular bias

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Henri B. Kagan and Kenso Soai. The Nobel Committee stated that molecules essential to all life, such as amino acids, possess chirality, meaning they exist as two mirror-image versions.
The two researchers addressed the fundamental question of why life prefers one specific mirror-image molecule over the other. In organic chemistry, chirality describes two symmetrical molecular forms, each exhibiting distinct characteristics.
Kagan and Soai focused their efforts on developing chemical reactions designed to generate increased quantities of the required, correct molecular version.
