Epic Games to use AI for code and art in Disney title

Epic Games plans to employ artificial intelligence to produce both the code and artwork for an unannounced video game featuring Disney properties. The project, which will include characters from Star Wars and Marvel, has been pushed back from its initial March release date.
Developers received an "AI-first" directive requiring the use of tools such as Anthropic’s Claude. "No more hand-written code," stated one of the game’s directors.
Staff members were instructed that every piece of art for the title will be created using full AI workflows. Disney provided Epic with a $1.5 billion investment during 2024.
The company already integrates AI technology into Fortnite, which previously showcased an AI-driven Darth Vader. Engagement for Fortnite has experienced a downturn since 2025, occurring after Epic dismissed more than 1,000 workers earlier this year.
