Punjab government to distribute 100,000 electric bikes to students starting November 5

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced that the provincial government will provide 100,000 electric bikes to students beginning on 5 November. A majority of these vehicles are set aside specifically for female students.
Students who lack experience in riding will be given two days of complimentary driving instruction. Over 600,000 applications have been submitted for the e-bike scheme, which has already seen more than 1.2 million registrations.
The provincial government intends to grow the Green Bus fleet from its current 700 vehicles to 3,000 units within the next six to eight months. These fully electric buses will keep their Rs. 20 fare and eventually serve all 148 tehsils across Punjab.
Passengers can access air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and CCTV cameras on the buses, which offer free travel to senior citizens, people with disabilities, students, and women.
