Pakistan simplifies property documentation for Apna Ghar housing loans

The State Bank of Pakistan issued formal instructions to banks to reduce the mandatory property documentation required for housing finance to five items. These directives follow orders from Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to streamline the Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Programme.
The Ministry of Housing and Works manages this nationwide initiative, which provides loans of up to Rs10 million for building homes. Required paperwork now consists of a site plan, a transfer and possession letter, and a mortgage permission letter.
Banks must also verify the registration of the mortgage as part of the remaining essential property-related documents.
