Pakistan launches free hepatitis C testing and treatment drive in Islamabad

The federal government initiated a free hepatitis C testing and treatment campaign in Islamabad to combat the virus. Authorities will cover treatment expenses for patients, which typically range between Rs34,000 and Rs68,000.
The Prime Minister’s National Programme for the Elimination of Hepatitis C seeks to reduce the disease burden and stop its spread. Officials plan to extend the campaign to Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir before rolling it out nationwide.
