South Korean authorities reinforce barriers to keep shark out of Busan canal

South Korean authorities reinforced barriers on 22 October to prevent a dusky shark nicknamed Bukangi from returning to a Busan canal. The shark swam back into the waterway on 22 October after breaking through a previous barrier.
Rescue workers spent more than 8 hours on 21 October attempting to guide the 3-metre-long (10ft) shark toward open water using a net. Two earlier attempts to move the shark out of the canal with nets failed before this week's operation.
Bukangi was first spotted swimming in the canal last month. More than 1.6 million visitors came to see the shark during the month it remained in the canal.
The shark appeared to be injured and was not eating. Unusually warm waters and a high volume of fish might have drawn the shark into the canal.
A government official said rescuers have concluded their operations to free the shark.
