Atari to shut down VCS software store in February 2027

Atari will close its VCS software store on 1 February 2027. Users of the console have until 31 January 2027 to download software from the digital marketplace.
Applications and games previously acquired by owners will continue to function after the store ceases operations. Atari plans to release an Atari Home Brew app to support the community.
The company intends to "make an OS update available that allows you to migrate all functionality to your local machine, removing any dependencies on Atari infrastructure for authentication and software." The Atari VCS is a mini PC powered by AMD hardware and running a Linux-based operating system.
It emulates a variety of classic Atari titles that come pre-loaded on the device. The software store also provided users with access to Nvidia GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
