Pakistan removes permanent employment for doctors at government teaching hospitals

Government teaching hospitals in Pakistan have eliminated permanent employment opportunities for doctors. Authorities decided to hire Senior Registrars on a contract basis rather than offering permanent positions through the Public Service Commission.
Medical specialists in surgery, medicine, and other departments will now be recruited under three-year contracts. Bureaucrats have reportedly moved to phase out permanent jobs for physicians in government hospitals.
The removal of permanent job security has caused doctors to lose interest in working within the government health sector.
