Huawei prepares to launch Starlight smartphone sub-brand for affordable online sales

Huawei is reportedly preparing to launch a new smartphone sub-brand called Starlight, known as Xingmang in Chinese. The company intends for Starlight to serve as a more affordable option primarily focused on online sales channels.
Several models under the Starlight name are already in the development phase. One specific Starlight model is being designed to include an active cooling fan.
Starlight phones are expected to be powered by Huawei’s in-house Kirin 8-series or Kirin 9-series chips. The manufacturer currently operates four main smartphone lines to reach different consumer segments.
Premium buyers are currently served by the Mate and Pura series. Nova targets customers interested in imaging and design, specifically through offline sales channels.
The Enjoy series serves the lower-cost segment of the market. HarmonyOS has reportedly surpassed 90 million devices running versions 6 and 7.
The operating system currently ranks as the third-largest in the world.
