Decomp.dev shuts down public index and new project submissions

Decomp.dev is closing its public index and halting the submission of new projects. The platform has disabled its primary public index and will no longer accept new project entries.

Launched in 2024, the site is transitioning its operations as technology evolves. AI began becoming noticeably more useful with Opus 4.6 and GPT-5.4 in early 2026, according to Encounter.

GPT-6 Astra improved at following complex instructions, cross-referencing symbols and debug information, writing more natural code, and testing multiple source-code variations, Encounter noted. With the right guidance and code review, AI can now significantly speed up decompilation, Encounter claimed.

Decomp.dev will continue tracking existing projects, maintaining individual project pages and preserving historical data.

Rabies death toll in Sindh reaches 40 as new cases emerge

The rabies death toll in Sindh has climbed to 40, according to recent health data. A septuagenarian man from Baldia Town died of the virus on 15 October at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).

The victim had been bitten by a dog more than three weeks prior but failed to receive preventive treatment. JPMC has documented over 11,000 dog bite cases this year, resulting in 10 deaths from rabies at the facility.

Other recent fatalities include a 38-year-old man from Diplo, Tharparkar, and a 12-year-old boy from Hyderabad. Health officials note that rabies is almost invariably fatal once clinical symptoms appear.

A large number of cases remain unreported because patients often rely on home remedies or visit faith healers for treatment.

Asifa Bhutto Zardari marked the 19th anniversary of the Karsaz tragedy on 18 October, recalling the day hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis gathered in Karachi to welcome her mother, Benazir Bhutto, home from exile. Terrorists killed more than 180 innocent people during the attack, while hundreds of others sustained injuries.

Benazir Bhutto died 70 days after surviving the Karsaz incident. Addressing the nation's youth, Zardari called on young women and men to question those preaching intolerance and reject those glorifying terrorism.

She warned against allowing social media to become a vehicle for poisonous propaganda, incitement and the recruitment of young minds into extremism. Pakistan government plans new tax agency as FBR misses revenue targets

Pakistan government plans new tax agency as FBR misses revenue targets

The Pakistani government intends to restructure the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) or establish a separate tax collection agency. Current projections indicate the FBR will fail to meet this year's revenue target by approximately Rs650 billion.

Last year, the agency missed its original revenue goal by more than Rs1.1 trillion. Pakistan's tax-to-GDP ratio remains fixed at 10.3 percent.

A Rs55 billion transformation plan was initiated in 2024 to overhaul the revenue system. The caretaker government previously sought to separate Customs from Inland Revenue.

The FBR officially dismissed reports suggesting that the country could outsource its tax collection duties. The agency was renamed from the Central Board of Revenue to the FBR in 2007.
